What is Varithena & How Can it Treat Varicose Veins?

Varithena is an injectable microfoam consisting of polidocanol that is FDA Approved to treat varicose veins and other vein issues. The polidocanol microfoam induces vein collapse, as the mirofoam replaces the blood in the diseased vein. This results in the blood flowing to healthier veins, resolving the symptoms and appearance of varicose veins.

What to Expect

What is Treatment Like?

We begin by numbing the area. Using an ultrasound machine for precision, we’ll begin filling the problem areas with Varithena using a needle or catheter. Once the problematic vein collapses, the foam will deactivate due to contact with the blood as it flows into place. Bandages and compression stockings will also be applied for the best results.

What are the Side Effects?

You will have to avoid heavy exercise for a week after treatment and wear compression tights. The most common side effects are discomfort or leg pain and bruising. These typically subside within a week of treatment. Our team will cover your risk of side effects during your consultation.

Will My Insurance Cover Treatment?

Varithena is accepted by some insurance plans. It will also vary depending upon the severity of your varicose veins and associated symptoms. We’ll help you navigate the insurance process prior to treatment so you can reap the rewards of Varithena!

How Much Do These Treatments Cost?

Your treatment costs will vary based upon your individual needs and treatment sessions required, as well as insurance coverage. Varithena is exceptionally safe and is often a superior option for many patients. Our team will also discuss your financing options during a consultation!
